7 Days Samburu, Amboseli & Tsavo West National Park Itinerary

Safari Highlights

Kenya is a land filled with the richness of Africa. From the remote Shaba Reserve where Survivor three was filmed amongst the Lion and Elephant to the Maasai Mara’s migrating herds of wildebeest, guests will enjoy a well-rounded, invigorating safari experience. This is balanced with periods of quiet contemplation where only the sound of a distant Lion’s roar breaks the night air. Exciting days and relaxing nights at comfortable, quality accommodations make this a great value African experience.

Day 01: Nairobi - Samburu.

Pick up from the Junction mall at 7:00am then drive north to Samburu where the climate is drier and the land is semi-desert arriving in time for lunch at the camp. Spend the next two days exploring the Samburu Game Reserve. Keep your camera and binoculars ready, as the wildlife is plentiful. See the thin-striped Gravy’s Zebra, reticulated Giraffe, blue-necked Somali ostrich and Beisa Oryx, all species only found north of the equator. Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain at 19,340 feet (5,895 meters). Although it is situated inside Tanzania, the best views of the mountain are from Amboseli on the Kenyan side of the border. Outside the park gates are the Shetani Lava Flows, “frozen” rivers of molten black rock twisted in bizarre shapes. At just over 7,800 square miles (20,000 sq Km), Tsavo is Kenya’s largest national park. The park is home to a huge variety of animals and birds, especially around the watering holes in this otherwise dry area. During the fall these watering holes are a stopover for hundreds of thousands of birds on their annual migration south. The Mzima Springs is the source of the fresh water pools much favored by Hippos and Crocodiles. There is even a glass wall for viewing the pools from under the water line. Wildlife which can be spotted in this area includes Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, Hyenas, Jackals, Giraffes, Zebras, Buffalos, Baboons and several species of antelope.
